Billy West is Senior Vice President at M.E. Wilson Company. His focus is partnering with middle market clients to create, enhance, and to establish risk management strategies to separate them from their competitors and improve their total cost of risk. Billy began his insurance career with Associated Self Insurance in Montgomery, AL. He spent four years as a Workers Compensation claims adjuster for the largest fund in Alabama and also spent one year working for the Alabama Municipality Insurance fund that represented over 85% of all municipalities in Alabama.
After learning the claims side of the business, Billy relocated to Orlando, Fl to work for a National Third Party Administrator, Managed Comp. He was responsible for the sales and underwriting for the west coast of Florida. Billy has spent the last nine years in the Insurance Agency sector as a broker/advisor. Billy’s background in claims, risk assessment, underwriting and sales provides him an advantage in helping businesses with all aspects of their commercial risk management and insurance needs.
Billy is an active member of multiple Tampa Bay organizations as well as industry associations: Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Independent Insurance Agents of Greater Tampa, C12, Association of Corporate Growth, CBLC and Associated Builders, Contractors Association and CFO Exchange. Billy’s philosophy of service extends to her community as well. He serves as a director, of “Fore the Children” that he started with friend to assist families dealing with children with terminal illnesses. Billy also serves as a Board Member for the “Make A Wish Foundation”. He is an active member in his church and coaches both youth football and baseball.
Billy and his wife Anne live in Tampa. They have two children, Lauren 19 and Tyler 10. Billy enjoys Flag Football, Golf, Fishing, Clay Shooting, and spending time with his family.
